97-year-old Mayor of Tinton Falls, New Jersey was Re-elected for a Fourth Term

The World War II Veteran was Re-elected on Tuesday and is Believed to be the Oldest Mayor in the United States

Vito Perillo, the 97-year-old mayor of Tinton Falls, has been re-elected and will reach the century mark before the end of his second term in the borough of Tinton Falls located in Monmouth County.

In a nonpartisan election on Tuesday, the World War II veteran and former electrical engineer for the US Department of Defense defeated three other opponents.

Perillo ran for mayor for the first time in 2018 at the age of 93, with no prior political experience. He delivered a flier showcasing his first term's accomplishments while campaigning ahead of Tuesday's election. Reduced municipal taxes, repaving 10.6 miles of sidewalks and roads, and investing in the acquisition of Wordell Park, a 62-acre open area where locals have enjoyed playing pickle ball, a sport that mixes tennis and badminton, are just a few of the initiatives.

The leaflet stated, "Tinton Falls is operating like a great watch under Mayor Perillo's guidance."

Perillo pledged to enter his second term in Tinton Falls with the same energy he brought over the last four years.

"I promise to do my best everyday to ensure every member of our community can be proud to live in Tinton Falls!" he announced.
