Major Weather Changes are Expected in New Jersey Later This Week: The Weather is Wet and Cold

Thursday, we will see another day that is dry and mild. Temperatures will be confined to the lower 60s Thursday afternoon due to increased cloud cover.

Showers are unlikely to arrive until around 10 p.m. Thursday evening at the earliest. We will begin to see rain late Thursday night.

Our next storm system, a powerful cold front, will arrive early Friday morning. A period of constant rain will drench us. At this point, it appears that the "peak period" for that rain will be Friday morning between 4 a.m. and Noon. Showers may last into the afternoon as well.

It's possible that the rain will be heavy at times. Rainfall totals will most likely range from a half-inch to an inch, with the largest totals expected in North Jersey. It's conceivable that thunder will rumble.

The risk of severe weather, winter weather, and/or flooding, on the other hand, is extremely low. A brisk northwesterly wind will increase to around 30 mph by Friday afternoon, bringing in cooler air. Say your goodbyes to the 60s and 70s, as it will finally feel like November.
