A 75-foot fishing boat that went aground at Island Beach State Park on Friday night remained stranded as of Saturday, according to police.

The Seaside Heights Fire Department's Assistant Chief William Rumbolo said his department was summoned to the area for mutual aid at 10 p.m. Friday night. He stated that three people were on board, none of them were injured.

The reason for the boat's aground is a mystery to officials.

The boat's members were scalloping and were going in for the night when it went aground, according to Seaside Park Fire Department Chief Mike Tumolo, whose department assisted with the attempted rescue.
