Update Crashed DMV Centers

After an update broke their system on Friday morning, the MVC's licensing facilities are back online.

Just before 10 a.m., the agency announced a statewide outage on their Twitter account. The centers were back online and operational, according to a second tweet sent out at 10:16 a.m. but went down again five minutes later.  By 10:50 a.m., the system had been restored.

According to MVC spokesperson William Connolly, the disruption lasted slightly under three hours and solely affected in-person license transactions.

"This is the first time in well over a year that we've had a system-wide outage. We're collaborating with OIT to figure out why a routine upgrade resulted in an outage, and we'll address the root causes to prevent it from happening again "In a statement, Connolly said.
