In a Murder-Suicide, a Franklin Man Stabs his Wife and Then Kills Himself

Murder Suicide in NJ

According to Gloucester County officials, a 42-year-old lady was stabbed to death by her husband before he drove away and shot himself to death in a brutal murder-suicide.

On Thursday about 10:30 a.m., Franklin Township Police responded to a complaint regarding a guy inside a car that had come to rest in a backyard near to Franklinville-Williamstown Road on Sandra Way in the Franklinville part of town.

According to Acting Chief of Detectives Thomas Gilbert of the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, John Kolonich, 46, was discovered dead inside the car from a gunshot wound to the head.

Melissa Kolonich, his wife, was discovered stabbed to death inside their Florawood Court family home, according to Gilbert.

Melissa Kolonich was slain at home by her husband, who then drove south on Franklinville-Williamstown Road before crashing into the Sandra Way house's property, according to investigators.

Authorities said he shot himself with a firearm in the car after the collision.

As of Friday, the prosecutor's office has not revealed any probable motives.
