After the COVID Outbreak, Princeton University Instituted Remote Exams and Limited Gatherings

Following an Increase in Instances Among Undergraduates in the Last 24 Hours, the Additional Limitations will be in Force from Thursday until January 7

After a spike in instances among undergraduates over the last 24 hours — including "suspected cases of the highly contagious Omicron variety," Princeton Campus has transferred its final exams to a remote format and advised the university community to cancel or postpone all indoor gatherings.

COVID-19 was found in 28 members of the university community on Tuesday.

The new limits will be in force from Thursday to January 7, according to the institution. A COVID-19 booster shot has also been requested by the institution for eligible students and employees.

Vice President Rochelle Calhoun and Dean Jill Dolan wrote to undergraduate students informing them that the institution intends to implement a booster dose mandate for students and employees. By January 31, all eligible people would have to have their booster shot. The mandate's details are anticipated to be released this week.

"Before January 7th, the University will review our gatherings advice and adjust its public health policy accordingly," the letter stated.

According to the institution's COVID-19 dashboard, 34 university community members tested positive for COVID-19 during the week of December 6-10. They consisted of 16 undergraduates, three graduates, and 15 members of the professors and staff. Vaccination rates are currently around 99 percent for undergrads, 98 percent for graduates, and 96 percent for staff and professors.
