John Madden, legendary NFL sportscaster and coach, dies at 85
The NFL said Tuesday that John Madden, the Hall of Fame coach turned commentator whose passionate yells and clear explanations provided a weekly soundtrack to NFL games for three decades, died on Dec. 28, 2021. He was 85 years old.
Since the late 1970s, Madden has been a household name for football fans, whether as a coach, an NFL announcer, or the face of the popular football video game.
