The crash happened in Union's 1500 block of Morris Avenue around 3:12 in the morning.
According to the police, a 2015 Jeep Wrangler jumped the curb and struck many signs, poles, and other objects in front of a line of shops.
The truck had significant damage, as seen on video, and there was debris all over a significant portion of the sidewalk.

Theodore Hagg, 72, of Elizabeth, who was the driver, was pronounced dead at the site.
