Actually, it's now just 27 days until the back striper season gets underway again in the state of New Jersey!
No use squabbling over a day or two to start the month of February, the bottom line is that we're in the home stretch now towards spring! Some folks plan on pounding the perch this weekend in South Jersey's salty rivers, but we've got events to the north in Bergen County and near the Raritan to talk about to.
More tautog reports coming in from the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region, plenty of solid freshwater options in the open waters from the Jersey Shore out to the Poconos, and the latest on the 2023 fluke season in the Garden State in advance of the next big meeting in March. Some good "YOY" recruitment numbers out of the Hudson River in 2022 hopefully bodes well for striped bass stocks and the anglers gearing up at the flea markets this weekend.
