What it takes to earn $100k as a solar panel installer in New Jersey

Ricky Gass, 25, has held too many jobs to count: he worked at a Restoration Hardware warehouse, poured coffee at a Dunkin Donuts, and worked as a cashier at a Family Dollar.

"I've had at least 12 different jobs." Some I worked for a day, others for a month, and yet others for a year. It's only that you've realized how insignificant you are. "And on that day, you depart," he says. "You come to the realization that no one cares about you." They don't care if you phone in and report anything is wrong with your child or with you. But I know what I'm capable of, and I've quit every job where I felt that way."

He recalls having this feeling when stacking shelves at Toys R Us for $7.25 an hour.
